Super Mario Odyssey 2 is one of the most highly anticipated sequels in gaming history. Fans have been clamoring for a follow-up to the 2017 hit ever since its release, and the rumors have been swirling for years. But is the sequel actually releasing? Here’s the latest news.
The rumors of a Super Mario Odyssey 2 have been around since the original game’s release in 2017. Nintendo has been tight-lipped about the game, but there have been some hints that the sequel is in the works. In 2019, Nintendo filed a trademark for “Super Mario Odyssey 2”, and in 2020, Nintendo’s president Shuntaro Furukawa said that the company was “considering various possibilities” for the game.
Despite the rumors, there has been no official announcement from Nintendo about the game. However, there have been some recent developments that suggest the game may be in the works. In February 2021, Nintendo filed a new trademark for “Super Mario Odyssey 2”, and in March 2021, Nintendo’s president Shuntaro Furukawa said that the company was “considering various possibilities” for the game.
At this point, it’s unclear when or if Super Mario Odyssey 2 will be released. Nintendo has not made any official announcements, and the company is known for taking its time with big releases. However, the recent trademark filings and comments from Nintendo’s president suggest that the game is in the works.
For now, all we can do is wait and see. Fans of the original game will have to keep their fingers crossed that Nintendo will make an official announcement soon. Until then, we can only speculate about what the sequel might bring.
Before we begin with the Super Mario Odyssey 2 release date and other official reports, I would like you to comment below the year when you first played any Super Mario game version.
Just like me, I am hoping the majority of you played it before 2010 or even 2005.
Just like Gaming company Nintendo which is super old, this game has also been around for quite a long (the first-ever Mario game came out in 1983 with the title Mario Bros).
Even those who don’t play or can’t play Mario games anymore will surely smile or become interested in sharing their past stories whenever this game is mentioned anywhere!
I first played it in 2008 when I was a teen, and even now, I can’t resist myself without saying, “THOSE WERE THE DAYS”. When no one gave a damn about graphics (2D games were on the rise), and the only focus was gaming experience.
Super Mario Bros was another blockbuster (a word not doing justice to the game’s remarkably well success, but please manage!) of this great franchise!

Super Mario Odyssey: Success so far
It is a Nintendo Switch platform-specific game, released on October 27, 2017, by Nintendo.
While the game has changed dramatically with the addition of a lot of new features, the original story of Mario Bros is still continued.
Our childhood superhero Mario is yet again all set to save the princess Peach from his all-time enemy Bowser who only dreams of marrying her forcefully.
While the game was released in late 2017, you will be surprised to know that the development work began right after the release of Super Mario 3D World, which dates back to 2013!
A whopping 20 million copies have been sold as of March 2021, which makes it one of the best selling Nintendo Switch games till today!
Unlike other Mario versions developed for common gamers, one special factor that was kept in mind while developing Super Mario Odyssey was to make it as appealing as possible for the “core fans” of original Super Mario Bros and yes that’s us!
This version also received the “best version of the series/franchise” award for being close to the original Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario Odyssey 2: Development and Release Date Possibilities
When the game first came out in 2017, developers didn’t plan to release a part 2 and were very particular about it. One major reason for such a decision was to avoid the competition from existing Super Mario Odyssey 1, another reason being able to add a DLC (downloadable content) to add features to the existing version.
However, seeing the unexpected success of the first part, they’re considering making the sequel.
While there is no official statement of either continuing or discontinuing the series, making a sequel of their biggest success can be considered practically guaranteed.
Shigeru Miyamoto who holds several high positions in the company and is the producer as well as director of Nintendo has insisted on making the sequel.

Super Mario Odyssey 2: Conclusion as on 2021
We looked deeper and deeper, but no official statement has been made by the company so far.
Several rumours surfaced about the game development and release date in the first quarter of 2021 but due to missing factual information, it can be kept aside.
With the company working on several other huge projects and the Super Mario Odyssey 1 team already deployed in making a completely different title, the wait is going to be quite long from here.
But we can hopefully get the confirmation of the game development from the company by the end of 2021.
