Ashley Rison, a former teacher in the state of Indiana, is facing charges of having sex with a minor. The minor in question is a 17-year-old student at the school where Rison taught.

Rison, who is married, was arrested in October of 2020 after the student’s parents reported the alleged relationship to the police. According to court documents, the student told police that he and Rison had been in a sexual relationship since the summer of 2020.

The student also told police that he and Rison had exchanged explicit photos and videos, and that they had engaged in sexual intercourse multiple times. Rison has been charged with two counts of child seduction, a felony in Indiana.

Rison’s husband, who has not been identified, has not commented publicly on the allegations. It is unclear if he was aware of the relationship between Rison and the student.

The case has sparked a debate in Indiana about the age of consent and the role of teachers in relationships with students. Under Indiana law, the age of consent is 16, but it is illegal for a teacher to have a sexual relationship with a student, regardless of the student’s age.

The case has also raised questions about the role of school administrators in preventing such relationships. In the wake of the allegations, the school district where Rison taught has implemented a new policy that requires teachers to report any romantic relationships with students to the school’s administration.

Rison is currently out on bond and is scheduled to appear in court in January 2021. If convicted, she could face up to eight years in prison.
