The Kashmir Files Plot
It is the subject of The Kashmir Files, a documentary film that sheds light on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s, which resulted in the forced evacuation of a number of Hindus from the valley. The video focuses on the predicament of Kashmiri Pandits and delves into one of the most horrific human catastrophes to have occurred in independent India’s history.
It became necessary for the Kashmiri Pandits to leave the region in the 1990s because of an atmosphere of fear and terror created by an increase in independence-seeking militant groups and Islamic insurgents who opposed the Hindu Kashmiri Pandits and wanted to establish an Islamic state in the region. The Kashmiri Hindu groups celebrate the ‘Exodus Day’ on the 19th of January. Due to the fact that the film is based on historical events, it is certain to have a compelling storey line.
The Kashmir Files has also received positive feedback from Prime Minister Modi, and it has been exempt from state taxes in Uttar Pradesh. In the video, hundreds of Hindu pandits who perished as a result of the persecution are depicted, as well as the countless others who were forced to escape their homes and relocate to other regions of India.
Is the Kashmir Files Tax Free in Uttrakhand?
For the purpose of encouraging people to watch The Kashmir Files, the government of Uttarakhand has decided to make the film tax-free. The decision was announced yesterday by the chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami. According to the director Vivek Agnihotri, the storey of the Kashmiri Pandits’ tribulations during the initial stages of the insurgency in the valley is the inspiration for the film. While all is going on, the Anupam Kher-starring film is performing exceptionally well at the box office.

Some of the Controversies on Kashmir Files Film by Vivek Ranjan.
- In recent weeks, the Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri-directed film ‘The Kashmir Files’ has gained a great deal of attention. However, in addition to the positive reviews, the picture has also sparked a great deal of controversy. ‘The Kashmir Files’ director Kapil Sharma has come under fire for reportedly failing to promote the film on his television show, while the Chhattisgarh chief minister has slammed the film’s producers, stating that they have only exposed half of the truth.
- Swara Bhasker’s mysterious tweet, which was sent out shortly after the release of ‘The Kashmir Files,’ placed her in hot water with the authorities. Even though Swara did not name anyone, her post was interpreted by some as an oblique jab at the television show ‘The Kashmir Files.’ In a previous tweet, the actress said, “If you want someone to congratulate you for the ‘success’ of your efforts.. maybe don’t spend the last five years shitting on their heads.. (sic).”
- Bhupesh Baghel, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, had a strong reaction to the documentary ‘The Kashmir Files.’ Following his viewing of the film, he expressed his thoughts as follows, “The entire film is focused on only one family but in the end, the main hero emphasised that not only Hindus, the people of different religions including Buddhists, Muslims, Sikhs were also murdered. But this film has been made to send only one political message that only Kashmiri Pandits were displaced. Half-truth is shown in the film. It is not appropriate to show one side in the film. If they (BJP-led central government) want to do politics through this and prepare for 2024 Lok Sabha polls, then they are taking the country in a very wrong direction.”
- While on his comedy show, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri claimed that Kapil Sharma refused to promote “The Kashmir Files” because of the lack of “big names,” sparking outrage. Netizens quickly trolled Kapil Sharma. However, after the film’s release, Anupam Kher stated that he was contacted by the TV program’s producers to appear on the show, but he turned it down since the film’s subject matter was too delicate for a comedy show.
‘The Kashmir Files’ also caused a stir in politics because Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said something about the film. Then he said: “Modi ji should tell when will our Kashmiri Pandits be rehabilitated and should give us a date as his government is there both at the Centre and in the state.”
He also said that the Prime Minister should show how many Kashmiris have been rehabilitated, given jobs, homes, and money. He Added, . “India is not a film but a reality. India will not be run by films but by the government’s policy and governance,”
The migration of Kashmiri Pandits, which forms the subject of the film, Surjewala claims, occurred during the administration of VP Singh, which was supported by the BJP. Surjewala questions, then, why the BJP did not withdraw its support from the government at the time.
