Apple TV+ has renewed the comedy series “Shrinking” for a second season. The show, produced by Warner Bros. TV and created by Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein, and Jason Segel, will be returning for another season after dropping its eighth episode out of a total of 10 in the first season. “Shrinking” is one of many popular series on the Apple TV+ streaming platform, which also includes the hit show “Ted Lasso.”
“We have loved the engaging, touching, and hilarious world of Shrinking since the beginning, and it has been wonderful to watch as audiences around the world continue to connect with these big-hearted characters,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+. “We can’t wait for viewers to experience what the cast and creative team have for season two.”
Lawrence wrote on Twitter
“Thanks to all the well-wishers about the official Season 2 pick-up of ‘Shrinking.’ Grateful/excited, even though we’ve already been in the writers’ room working on it for months (takes a second for things to be ‘official’ Hollywood!).”
The comedy series “Shrinking” features Jason Segel as a struggling therapist who opposes his mentor, Harrison Ford. Segel, Bill Lawrence, and Brett Goldstein created the program, which also stars Jessica Williams, Christa Miller, Lukita Maxwell, Michael Urie, and Luke Tennie. This is one of Ford’s first frequent TV roles, following his appearance on Paramount+’s “1923” as a “Yellowstone” spinoff.
The film “Shrinking” has received positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, with an 81 percent rating among critics and an 84 percent rating among viewers, but Apple has not released actual viewership data. In a recent interview, Segel, Lawrence, and Goldstein disclosed that three seasons are planned for the program.
“Shrinking” is a comedy series produced by Warner Bros. TV, and its creators Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein have separate overall deals with the company. The show is part of Apple’s scripted lineup, which includes other series like “Bad Sisters,” “Physical,” “The Afterparty,” and “Schmigadoon.”
In the Shrinking season 1 finale, titled “Closure,” Sean thanks Liz and Derek for investing in his food truck business by making sandwiches. Meanwhile, Alice is angry at Jimmy for removing her mother’s belongings from the house, but Jimmy explains that he is ready to move on. Liz reveals to Derek that she wants to be more involved in the food truck business, but she is unsure if Sean would welcome her overbearing personality. However, Sean is cool with having Liz as a partner. Brian hosts a party for his friends to choose the best man, but Jimmy leaves early after receiving a text from Gaby.
Gaby confesses to Liz about her casual hookups with Jimmy and asks Liz to proofread the recommendation letter she wrote for Paul’s job application. Liz is angry at Paul for not treating Gaby with compassion and points out that Gaby has always been there for him. Eventually, Paul realizes his mistake and expresses his appreciation for Gaby during her job interview. Alice goes through her mother’s belongings with Sean, and in the end, Brian and Charlie’s friends gather for their wedding.
