Why Netflix Doesn’t Release Record of Ragnarok in India?

This manga series is not made to India when it was released in June 2021 despite of being listed on Netflix before release.

This is because of the controversy the anime found itself after featuring the Hindu God, Lord Shiva. In October 2020, Rajan Zed who is the president of Universal Society of Hinduism gave a statement of Record of Ragnarok for its inappropriate reimagining –

“Hindu gods and goddesses were divine and entertainment companies were welcome to create projects about/around them showing their true depiction as mentioned in the Hindu scriptures. Inappropriately reimagining Hindu deities/concepts/scriptures/symbols/icons and redefining Hinduism for commercial or other agenda was not okay as it hurt the feelings of devotees.”
