Comedies, dramas, and even some epics may be found on the relatively new streaming service.

The following list of movies available on Peacock will help you narrow down your options. It was announced in the summer of 2020 that NBCUniversal’s streaming service will be launching with a slew of NBC and Universal programming, and in January 2021, The Office made its debut on the platform. However, with so many streaming options available, it’s understandable if you only want to know the bare essentials about Peacock and what you should watch first.

• Dark Waters (2019)

Mark Ruffalo, Anne Hathaway, and Tim Robbins are among those cast in the film.

Dark Waters is a masterpiece of a movie that finds resonance in its riveting look at one lawyer fighting corporate corruption. It is one of the most grounded and honest portraits of what it means to do good against the evils of the world, and it is widely considered to be one of the best examples of such a portrait. Rob Bilott, a real-life corporate defence attorney, is portrayed by Mark Ruffalo in the film.

In the film, Rob Bilott takes on an environmental lawsuit that reveals how DuPont poisoned the water of people who were unaware of it. It is a patient film that reveals how rigged things can be when you have the money to hide yourself from accountability.

It is a film that illustrates exactly how arduous and tough it can be to attempt something like this. Ruffalo does a fantastic job of depicting Bilott’s dedication to the investigation while also illustrating how much of an emotional toll it had on him. Because it shows how the real world isn’t like that, nothing is exaggerated or made into a standard Hollywood underdog story.

Instead, it reveals how the real world operates. It demonstrates how people are only safeguarded when brave guys such as Bilott are willing to speak out and put everything on the line, regardless of the consequences.

• The Outfit (2022)

One of the year’s most delightful surprises, it warrants your attention only for the performances If you can’t look away from the mayhem that is slowly unfolding, you’ll find yourself unable to keep your eyes off of it.

• The 355 (2022)

The film stars Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, Bingbing Fan, Diane Kruger, Lupita Nyong’o, Édgar Ramirez, and Sebastian Stan.

The355is an underappreciated thriller with a brilliant cast, an action-packed premise, and mind-boggling turns that will keep you thinking. Filmgoers will be surprised to learn that the protagonists in this film are all women. They all have unique stories to tell with their lives in danger. The cast includes a diverse range of women’s perspectives, which is uncommon in genre films.

As with other films with female leads, it avoids the conventional stereotypes and instead focuses on how sexism still pervades our society today. One of the best aspects of this film is how several of the characters speak in the actor’s native tongue, alluding to the global society the characters of the film — and we in real life — live in.

While Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz and Lupita Nyong’o are all excellent actresses, Diane Kruger dominates every scene she’s in with her rich performances. Actor Sebastian Stan is pleasant and charismatic in this picture, and he constantly gives it his best. Female characters are shown to be capable when written adequately by the rest of the ensemble. Watching The 355 will be a worthwhile experience.

• Constantine (2005)

Based on the characters created by Alan Moore, Stephen R. Bissette, Rick Veitch, and John Totleben, Kevin Brodbin and Frank Cappello wrote the script.

Rachel Weisz and Shia Labeouf also star in the film, which was directed by Keanu Reeves.

The first “dark and gritty” adaptation of a DC comic book wasn’t made by Christopher Nolan; it was Constantine in 2005. In the midst of the superhero craze, the picture was overshadowed and never developed into the successful series that Warner Brothers had hoped it would be, despite Keanu Reeves’ great performance as the title character. Alan Moore’s legendary pages come to life thanks to Keanu Reeves’ stoic manner.

“Scary” is a good word to describe one of the few times in a comic book movie’s strange, gothic, and shockingly violent tone (it was also rated R). There have been several attempts to bring the character back, including a television series and an animated picture, but we’re still waiting for a new John Constantine film that can match Reeves’ performance.

• Marry Me (2022)

The romantic comedy Marry Me is as corny as they get for romantic comedies, yet it works because of that. A pop artist named Kat Valdez (Jennifer Lopez) decides to marry a math teacher named Charlie Gilbert (Owen Wilson) after discovering that her on-stage boyfriend Bastian (Maluma) has been cheating on her.

Because of its over-the-top nature, the movie itself is a lure, even if the idea is ridiculously implausible. It’s a throwback to a bygone era of romantic comedies from the early 2000s — one that brings back fond memories in addition to the potential for embarrassing yourself in front of others. It’s the ideal combination for a romantic evening with a glass of wine.

• The Notebook (2004)

No matter how many times you watch “The Notebook,” you will always find yourself in tears at the movie’s conclusion. When a wealthy young woman (Rachel McAdams) falls in love with a young man (Ryan Gosling) who is impoverished but has a lot of passion, he gives her a sense of independence; nonetheless, they are eventually forced to part ways due to the socioeconomic contrasts between them.

The connection between Ryan Gosling and Amy Adams is one of the many reasons why “The Notebook” is such a successful romantic film. The film also features a love story that will make you cry. No matter how many times you’ve seen it, you will still find yourself laughing, crying, and smiling at various points throughout the film. It is a roller coaster of emotions that never ends.

It is a testament to the performers that sell this screenplay and how much they bring to the characters that they are playing that this is the case. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that almost 20 years after its initial release, The Notebook is still one of those movies that you can watch again whenever you have the need to watch a compelling love tale.

• Sinister (2012)

Sinister is one of the most terrifying films I have ever seen. It tells the story of an author, Ellison Oswalt, played by Ethan Hawke, who, unbeknownst to his family, moves them into a house that was the scene of a horrific murder in the hopes of finding inspiration.

Sinister is one of the scariest movies I have ever seen. Ellison discovers a box of film reels in the attic, and upon viewing them, he discovers that they are horrific snuff videos with an occult twist. Ellison develops an unhealthy preoccupation with the crimes; however, it is unclear if this preoccupation stems from Ellison himself or from the evil entity that appears to be tormenting the Oswalt family.

This is a genuinely scary picture that is best viewed during the daytime because of the “snuff flicks,” which were actually filmed on Super 8 to give it a realistic sense, and the sparse, sharp sound design. It is recommended that you watch this video during the day.

• 13 Going on 30 (2004)

It’s no secret that romantic comedies used to be shunned by audiences, but 13 Going on 30 has changed that perception completely. It’s hard to deny that Gary Winick’s sappy romance has one of the most likeable casts ever, led by Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo as the 21st century’s cutest rom-com couple and supporting players like everyone’s BFF Judy Greer and a Thriller-dancing Andy Serkis. They all play a role in the film’s success.

With a story about a teenage girl who wakes up as her dream 30-year-old self and finds she might have the wrong priorities, the movie also indulges a pure fantasy about lives we wish we had and learning not to take things for granted. A fish out of water performance by Garner, on par with Will Ferrell’s Elf and Tom Hanks’ Big, is exhilarating, as is her chemistry with Ruffalo. It’s one of the best movies of the 21st century and a joy to watch from beginning to end.

• Train to Busan (2016)

Because it focuses on how an outbreak of zombies might spread in a confined place, the film Train to Busan makes the prospect of a zombie apocalypse in an entire nation even more horrifying. In this particular instance, a train that is travelling towards the city of Busan in South Korea.

As mayhem breaks out at the station, the people riding the train come perilously close to avoiding exposure to the virus; but, just before the train departs from Seoul, an infected passenger boards the vehicle. The outbreak is moving at a quick rate through the train station, the city, and the rest of the country, which forces the train to become a haven at the same time that it becomes a threat to the passengers.

Train to Busan maintains a high level of tension and stakes throughout its entirety thanks to the fast-moving and ravenous zombies as well as the confined quarters in which its characters find themselves. It’s a zombie movie like no other, and it’s well worth your time to watch it.

• Mary Queen of Scots (2018)

When historical epics take creative liberties with the details of the events they are presenting, audiences are compelled to consider whether or not the alterations made are an improvement. With the film Mary Queen of Scots, directed by Josie Rourke, we get an insightful look at female leadership based on one of the most well-documented wars in the history of the middle ages.

Both the Scottish Queen Mary (Saoirse Ronan) and Queen Elizabeth I (Margot Robbie) are forced to contend with sexism and discrimination at every turn of the plot, despite the fact that they are forced into war with each other. In addition to being a stunning production overall, it was also recognised with two Oscar nominations, one for best costume design and the other for best makeup and hairstyling.
