Annika is a British criminal drama television series based on the radio drama Annika Strandhed, which was broadcast on BBC Radio 4. The first episode, which was produced by Black Camel Pictures for Alibi and All3Media, premiered on August 17, 2021, with the second episode following a year later.
Annika Strandhed is a Detective Inspector of the Scottish Police, and she has recently been posted to the Glasgow Marine Homicide Unit as part of her training. Her adolescent daughter is accompanying her on this trip. The relationship between Annika and her daughter is a sub-plot that runs across all of the episodes.
Annika is descended from the same Norwegian ancestors as the characters in the original radio serial. Aside from that, Nick Walker authored the radio series Annika Strandhed, which starred Nicola Walker as Annika Strandhed and was set in the Norwegian capital of Oslo.

Who Is Coming Back in Season 2 of Annika?
If a second season is ordered, we can expect Nicola Walker to repeat her part as DI Annika Strandhed in Scotland, where the show is filmed, if the first season was successful.
Jamie Sives (Guilt), Katie Leung (The Nest), Ukweli Roach (Blindspot), and Kate Dickie (The Cry) are all expected to return with her Marine Homicide Unit.
There should be a return of Morgan, Annika’s troubled daughter played by Silvie Furneaux, as well as Dr. Jake Strathearn (Paul McGann), Morgan’s psychiatrist and Annika’s love interest from the previous season.

Annika Season 2 Expected Plot
The film was set in Scotland, which served as the backdrop. It is a drama about Annika Stranded, the head of Glasgow’s Marine Homicide Unit, who is a mysterious detective and who is also the star of the show “Annika.”
Similarly to the radio show, the detective began her career as a member of the Oslo police murder squad before moving on to other positions. In her new Glasgow home, Morgan, an intelligent but unpredictable adolescent, is having difficulty adjusting to her new surroundings. During the show’s intermissions, the audience is shown their strained mother-daughter relationship.
The fact that Annika, the only Annika, has a lot on her plate with her child does not detract from her strength as a woman. It is common for cats to be smacked at the office where they work.
A man’s body was taken from the River Clyde with a harpoon slit through his head, and his body was identified. Once again, a murder takes place, and Annika finds herself in a race against time to solve the mystery and prevent any more people from falling prey to it.
A body is pulled from the Clyde and a harpoon is placed in the victim’s head, and DI Annika Stranded and her colleagues are given their first case to work on.
They realise that the man’s boat shop isn’t running as expected and that he isn’t interested in getting involved in a nefarious business venture after all. If another murder occurs, it will be a race against time to prevent further killings from taking place.
Annika Season 2 Premiere Date
The second season of Annika has yet to begin production due to a lack of approval from the network. This could result in a postponement of filming, making it doubtful that new episodes will be released in the United Kingdom this summer.
Assuming the first take is completed by October, new episodes of Alibi might premiere in the late spring or early summer of 2023, followed by Giallo in Italia in the fall of that same year.
